frankenstein friends.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

What better way to celebrate the day after the slow and anticlimactic birth of Frankenstein Friends than with a national holiday? Especially since we have some Irish running through our blood (( Look at how green our faces are )). So, despite the fact that I am 1/4 Irish, I didn’t have my first Irish Car Bomb until New Year’s Eve 2011 (( Or is that New Year’s Eve 2010…It was the day before it became 2011..whatever – a little over a year ago )). I was ringing in the New Year at Casual Ken and Cranky Tea’s house when a good friend of ours – BriansDreams.com – showed up with the ingredients to make the entire party about 7 Irish Car Bombs each. He either wanted to kill us or he didn’t realize that only 10 people were hanging out. Either way, he fell asleep in the middle of the party sitting up in a chair in the kitchen. Needless to say, he was trying to accomplish something. We all sat on Cranky Tea’s bed and had real talk – while BriansDreams.com snored loudly 4 feet away.
Back to the Bombs. So he made these and we drank them – – and I thought it was an amazing combination of flavors and I loved it.  If you haven’t had one before, make one:
IRISH CAR BOMB
Add the Bailey’s and Jameson to a shot glass, layering the Bailey’s on the bottom. Pour the Guinness into a pint glass or beer mug 3/4 of the way full and let settle. Drop the shot glass into the Guinness and CHUG
So, the next day we were slaving away making our Japanese New Year feast (( because half of us is Japanese and we like to celebrate our heritage on consecutive days )) when I decided I would make an Irish Car Bomb to sip on while we cooked because I enjoyed the drink so much during the .5 seconds I spent drinking it the night before. BriansDreams.com had left more than enough ingredients to supply us for the rest of the year, so I mixed one together and sipped on it while making sushi.
NEVER DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone else on the planet knows that’s why you chug an Irish Car Bomb and now I do too. I thought we were just chugging it because it was New Year’s Eve and that was what the kids do at parties, but No. I am probably the only person that learned the hard way that chugging is a necessity not a choice.  If you don’t know – please learn the hard way and tell me what you think. If you love cottage cheese, this is the cocktail for you.
